Day 4 - Oct 9 - Toto I don't think we are in Kansas anymore

This will be a shorter post, because the rest of the Mud Dragons and I just drove and drove.

We started in York, Nebraska, and within the hour, we were in Kansas.

You may not know this, but Kansas is a close to a home state as I have.  We lived here during my 5th=7th grade years, and my junior and senior years of high school.  In between, we lived in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, where my Dad was transferred with his work.

I've lived in Idaho longer than anyplace I've ever lived, but I suppose the place you graduate from high school is sort of what defines your formative years.  This is why the "Welcome to Kansas" sign gets the I Love You gesture.

After about 3.5 hours on the road, I made it to the greater Wichita area, "Welcome to Wichita!"  (Haha, who outside of my family knows the movie quote?

And I stopped off to see some dear friends, they were Church youth leaders of mine during my teen years, and they had a wonderful positive impact on me and on many others.  To let you know how great they are...they fed me lunch. :-D

Then, before hopping back on the highway, I swung past the home where my parents lived from 1975 until my mother moved out this Spring.  That's a LONG time!

After saying hello to the neighbors and close friends of my parents, the band climbed back into the tour bus and we headed south...to Oklahoma.

There wasn't a safe place to stop and snap a pic of this sign at the state line, so I had to take a photo from the car, on the fly.

Then, I saw this sign as the first rest stop, so I veered in to take this picture.  Yep, Oklahoma is "okay."

Shortly before dusk, I found a place to stay in Norman, home of the University of Oklahoma.

So, Toto, today we drove across the entire state of Kansas, north to south, and this means that, yes, you guessed it, we aren't in Kansas any more.

The plan for tomorrow is to keep going south...to the place "where the stars at night are big and bright!!!"

Thanks for checking in!  Today was a nice and calm.

Cheers
