Hi all --
The Mud Dragons' Tour is taking a break for more R&R in Buckeye AZ. Spending time with my daughter Lindsey and her family is a joy.
Today started with more park time, followed by an outing to a place called the Brass Armadillo. It's not so much a store as it is a sort of antique/consignment mall filled with a myriad of tiny booths and displays, and the place is BIG!
We probably spent close to two hours roaming the aisles of the Brass Armadillo. Normally, I'm not likely to do much impulse buying at a place like this, but I found something that was so interesting and nostalgic that I went for it...for $9.99. It's a copy of an Avalon Hill military strategy game called Midway.
I was introduced to Avalon Hill strategy games when I was in JHS back in the early 1970s, and over the years I owned and played several of them (France 1940, Diplomacy, Panzerblitz, Bismarck, Richtofen's War, Lufwaffe etc.). I never owned Midway, but it looks and feels a lot like another title that I thoroughly enjoyed: Bismarck. I look forward to giving this game a try.
The last stop on our outing today was Costco. There was a short list of things to look for while we were there, the main one being a specific kind of turkey that Lindsey wanted. We looked and looked, but couldn't find any. We were a bit bummed. Oh well, some days are like that. But we consoled ourselves with a bite to eat before we left.
Before dinner, Oliver had another short session of trying to ride a bicycle, and he's SO close to being a true rider! He still needs help starting and stopping and starting, but he's getting more of a feel for two-wheeled riding. In a couple more days, he'll be a true rider!
After dinner and the Jr Dragons' bedtime, Lindsey and Jay introduced me to the TV show Brooklyn Nine-Nine. We watched 3-4 episodes and it was fun.
And those were the highlights of Day 16 of the tour.
More updates tomorrow! Stay tuned.
